Of course, there have been moments of fun and joy amidst Lachlan's convalesence. It's hard not to have such moments when you live with a two year-old as well. The expression carpe diem seems to twinkle in his eyes.

Our neighborhood's celebration of the Fourth of July was cause for many happy moments. Mima and Papa helped him decorate his trike (which he can ride all by himself - when did that happen?!) and the fire engine's appearance with a spray of water made it a day to remember.

That's my dad on his trike when he was Finn's age. The family resemblance is very apparent.

We look forward to doing this with Lachlan next year!
